Amanda Brugel
(February 27th, 2010 - Toronto ON) Pointe Claire is a quiet community located on the part of Montreal known as"the West Island. People unfamiliar with the term frequently think that it's an island that's in the west of Montreal but in fact this part of West Island is home to everything from Lachine west to the city of Lachine west. Amanda Brugel was born there, but her time there was short. Brugel lived in Courtice near Oshawa Ontario. She was determined to be a professional dancer but due to an explosive increase in her height, she outgrew all of her dancing partners. In an article from the Toronto Star she admitted In heels, I'm 6'1 inch. Once I surpassed the size of my male friends, I stopped. Bruce was among the former dancers who turned into acting. Her teacher from high school was what pushed her in the right direction. She was encouraged to take part in an audition in the school's production. After a few auditions the role, she was chosen as the lead actress for Anne of Green Gables. Following her award of the Fine Arts Talent Scholarship, she attended York University and earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in the year 2000. Since then, Brugel's been performing in over 60 plays, big and small. The most notable was the time she was cast as Rita in The Handmaid's Tale. Brugel, the only Canadian in the season 1 cast of the show and only seen occasionally was the only Canadian.
